I just installed FreePDF yeterday and thought I would share my experience...

I wanted to produce colour PDF's and so followed the instructions to install a HP Color Laserjet PS. Unfortunatly this produced only Letter length pages (11") not A4 (11.69") and the top .69 inches of the page was missing.

When FreePDF starts up, it lists the Input file to be converted to PDF as

If I navigate to the temp folder, I can verify that the file reda00392 is there.

When I "Save PDF as..." I get an "Error in Tcl Script." It lists the command it is trying to run, including the name of my temporary file, listed correctly, followed by an error message:

"c:\windows\temp\reda00436"
File Not found

I'm printing a two page document containing a lot of tables and TrueType fonts out of Word 97. Adobe PS printer driver quality is ridiculous - nonaligned letters and grainy print. So is the standard Apple Laser printer driver that is recommended in the installation guide. With HP CLJ 8550 PS the first page turns out excellent, just that a lot of letters are missing on the second page!!

Anyone encounterd similar problems?
Any ideas how to solve it?

first i have to say that i am happy to got this software running. after hours of trial and error. but when i converted my first document, two pages exported from ms-works, i was confronted with a bad surprise. only the first page was converted. the second page shows the photo on it, but no text, just some grey squares. i helped myself by converting the two pages separately and merged them together in my pdf-editor software. but how can i fix this problem?

I'm running W2K & XP Pro (different boxes), but both of them identify the desktop as "Documents and Settings\{user}\Desktop". GS does not like long file names. My problem is when I view the PDF output file, it is a mirrored image.

I went to the printer properties selected the general tab, printing preferences, layout tab, advanced button, postscript options and set the mirrored output to no. Still no joy.

The document was created using Word XP.

Any advice would be great thanks.

If I print an Excell file consisting of several Sheets (on several Tabs) the Acrobat Distiller delivers one file with all sheets in it - also the pagenumbers are correct.

Sometimes these fonts are rendered correctly using Adobe 5 or printing and sometimes (usually the larger documents) not.

The result of various documents differ, but for one document the result is always the same (always reproducable).

I am using FreeePDF 0.95.

I just can´t get a reasonable quality jpg image print out.
I tried with bmp´s and gif´s and the result is nearly the same.

I read something about bad compression; is there anyway to get around this? Or am I restricted to black & white if I want to get a decent PDF format?

I can create and view PDF files just fine.. But when I use the text select tool in Acrobat Reader, and copy the text to another program, it just comes up as boxes..
